On the 16th of April 2011, in the heart of Brantôme La Récré gourmande was born. A small unpretentious restaurant that wanted to be friendly, family and accessible to all. With its 50 sqm kitchen included, its small terrace and open kitchen where Colette cooked in front of everyone, we have been able to offer a simple, tasty cuisine, mostly based on fresh and local products.
After 3 years spent in this small restaurant that we had created our little hands, we had the opportunity to settle outside the city center, at the entrance of Brantôme, in the Domaine e la Roseraie. We went, not without a little nostalgia, from our small 50 sqm restaurant to a unique and magical place in Brantôme.
In a 17th century chartreuse in the heart of a park of 13000 sqm, lulled by the birds' songs, intoxicated by the scent of roses, and with our children, we settled there and transferred La Récré Gourmande in this wonderful place that is the Domaine de la Roseraie.
Today, although the restaurant has more room, we have not changed anything to the concept that made us famous. Simplicity, generosity and friendliness are always at the rendez-heart of what we do. Even if now, Colette has 'a kitchen bigger than our old restaurant and no longer cooks in front of you, her generosity and the pleasure she has to cook for you remain the same and her dishes speak for her.
For the service, it's me, Yann, her husband, and also work colleague. We are both still working the same way as before. We have found a balance at work that allows us to take a lot pleasure form doing our job and we do our best to give this pleasure back to you too. The potential of the place allowed us to develop aspects of our business that we could not do in our old restaurant because of the lack of space. Today, we can (and we do) organize events such as concerts, during summer and winter, art exhibitions, and more for the years to come.
We are also able to host group meals, seminars, family meals for special occasions such as weddings, communions, birthdays, or just for gatherings around a good meal. La Récré gourmande has become the restaurant of the Domaine de la Roseraie, which has now also 3 charming cottages fully equipped (furnished apartments) that can accommodate from 2 to 4 people.
Once again, it's our bare hands that did all the work and all changes to what used to be a hotel. This little history is important to us; all you have to do now is to come and meet us and spend some time with us to enjoy this beautiful place and its peaceful atmosphere.
